Wow, what a crazy weekend.
Saturday we took the kids to meet Santa. More on this later...it was what I expected, only in reverse, meaning that both kids acted how I expected but A acted how I thought N would and vice versa.
Saturday was a terrible eating day.
Breakfast:
(another) blueberry nutrigrain waffle with almond butter
iced coffee
Lunch:
i have no idea. I don't think I ate lunch. It was such a busy day. Oh actually I took a 3 hour nap.
Snack
cheese and crackers
Dinner:
I really didn't have dinner. I knew we were going out and I was busy running around. So I thought I'd eat when we went out but things turned out a little hectic. We went to a fundraiser for the local high school, where I ate 2 handfuls of m&ms, a hershey kiss, 3 nachos off my friend's plate, and 2 glasses of wine. After that it was 11 pm and I was starving so we went to the Outback (closest place to our house on the way home) and got the weirdest mix of stuff: cheese fries, ahi tuna appetizer, and buffalo strips. Weird, weird, weird. And I had another glass of wine.
Let's just say...chalk this day up to a failure.
Sunday I woke up and felt horrible. Thank you, 3 glasses of wine.
I had a waffle with almond butter (notice a pattern here?) and 2 Tylenol before running off to swim class with N.
Later, I had a piece of baked chicken and edamame for lunch.
Then...went to the Pats game. I had a sausage & pepper sandwich, chips, cookie and a Smirnoff Ice. And a lot of water.
I guess yesterday was a little better but I am DREADING today's weigh in. Wish me luck, kids!
A blog about my adventures as a "super" mom (this may be up for debate...ha) while also working full time and everything that goes with it...sprinkled with a healthy dose of nothing in particular.

Randomness
Today wasn't a good food day.
Breakfast:
egg white, cheese & bacon sandwich on bagel & hazelnut iced coffee w/milk
Yep, stopped at Dunks after a hellish daycare dropoff. A was fine, but N was ready to set me on fire as she was NOT INTERESTED in going to preschool today. As it turns out they think she needs to be moved to a smaller classroom because she is getting overwhelmed by all the older kids. We're going to try it out next week and give it a few weeks to see if things improve.
Lunch:
cup of clam chowder
Snack:
cheese & crackers
Dinner:
cup of baked ziti
Dessert:
sugarfree boston creme pie Jello pudding
Today was actually a good day at work. Pretty quiet and I got a lot done. I was able to leave the office at 2:30 and run a few errands. I went to the outlets and returned a ridiculously expensive outfit I had bought for my niece on a whim, and then proceeded to spend that same amount in another kids' store, but to be fair, I was able to get presents for most of the children on my list. Typically for the holidays, I buy an outfit and a toy for all of the kids. So they get something practical AND fun. :) Oshkosh had really cute clothes this year, and I had a coupon for an additional 25% off, so there you go.
For anyone that cares, I am not impressed with the Gymboree clothes this season. They are hideous and styled way older than they should be. I don't often buy clothes there, but sometimes I'll pick up something if it catches my attention. I usually find them grossly overpriced so I only buy on sale and with a coupon.
Children's Place has a lot of great clothes for the kiddos this season. I am glad that I only had a chance to return some stuff there that Adam outgrew (already!) because I would have bought a lot more. Luckily I had to get home to make dinner before N's parent teacher conference tonight.
In other news, I was THRILLED to see that People's Sexiest Man alive issue came today and RYAN REYNOLDS was on the cover! Yeah! I just love him. I need to study this magazine now so buh-bye and good night. :) More on this later.

Catching up
I haven't had time to post since we've been in the middle of the dreaded OE at work, but here are my food updates for Tuesday and Wednesday:
Tuesday, November 16:
Breakfast:
Blueberry Nutri-grain waffle with almond butter
large toasted almond iced coffee, milk only
Lunch:
*This was the healthy option today in the work cafe
Eggplant quesadilla with roasted red peppers and mozzarella
Diet Coke
Snack:
100 calorie pack cheddar chex mix
banana
Snack at home with N before bedtime
edamame
Dinner (was not till 9 pm)
broiled steak tips (5 small)
cheddar broccoli rice
boatload of broccoli
water
Dessert:
1 Whole foods dark chocolate covered marshmallow (YUM)
Wednesday, November 17
Breakfast:
medium hazelnut coffee, milk only
1/2 plain bagel, with 1 tsp peanut butter
Lunch:
*This was the healthy option today in the work cafe
spinach/herb stuffed portabella mushroom
brown rice
asparagus
Diet Coke
Snack:
100 calorie chex mix
string cheese
Dinner:
black beans & rice with monterey jack in a tortilla
water
Things to note here...
I continuously have water throughout the day, so even if I don't note it here, I'm usually good for at least 1-1.5 liters during the work day. As a result, I'm constantly in the bathroom...haha.
If I think I'm starting to get hungry I usually pop a piece of sugarless gum (Extra dessert delights gum is awesome - both the Mint Choc chip and Strawberry shortcake versions). I also keep healthy snacks in my desk, like the aforementioned 100-calorie chex mix, almonds, and fruit (dried or cups).
In looking over this list today I notice I should probably get some more fruit in my body. We have plenty of it, I just often forget to pack it in my lunch if it's not something easy to grab, like a banana.
I also haven't gone to the gym AT ALL...and I'm paying $50 per month for my family membership. We go on the weekends for sure, but during the week has been darn near impossible bc of crazy work schedules. I had hoped to go Tuesday night after work, but M fell asleep on the couch and I had to put everyone to bed. I'm going to try for getting to zumba tonight,
Must get ready for work now :) Have a great day all - and in the words of Russell from Hell's Kitchen, "Let's punch this b**** in the face and rock it!"

Sleepless in Boston
So I am awake now because I had to set my alarm to check on a process that is running for a project that is going live today at work...or should I say "it has officially gone live", because everything has been done and is available for public use. :)
Check that one off the list.
But I can't sleep now.
I went in to check MG's blog to see how she did at weigh in and now I am compelled to write something of my own. So today MG emailed me so we could discuss the weekend and she mentioned that she and 2 friends entered into a cash incentive weight loss contest. Basically, a "Biggest Loser" thing, but with much smaller stakes. I'm glad she jumped on board and is interested in this - it is a good thing, and I am going to do it too so I can support her. Also, my pants are starting to get a bit tight since I've been not going to Zumba for a couple weeks and eating too much. I'm trying to make time to get to the gym, but it really hasn't been a priority these last few weeks because of family & work. You know.
So I think part of this experience is that we're going to share information with one another about tips and tricks to get through it all, and support one another.
I also plan to blog about what I have eaten each day because when you see it in writing, it becomes more real and you do become more conscious about what you are doing. So here goes:
Monday, November 15
Breakfast:
Blueberry Nutrigrain waffle with almond butter
1 medium coffee, milk, no sugar
1 large iced coffee, milk, no sugar
(yes, this was a lot of coffee this morning but I had a meeting today that I needed it for...haha)
Lunch:
Chicken & butternut squash risotto that I brought from home
Banana
Diet Coke
So far so good, right?
But then...
It was D's bday at work and I went out to buy a cake. What I came back with was a Smores Brownie Tart from Whole Paycheck. It was divine, fudgy and super rich - to die for. I had a piece, very small, but...IT.WAS.DELICIOUS.
Dinner:
leftover 1/3 of eggplant panini from Bertucci's
chicken rice soup
water
I really didn't snack today - I was too busy running around. That's a good thing! I think all in all today was a good food day.
Anyway, I can't believe that Thanksgiving is next week. It's so crazy how fast this year has gone by - it really does go by much faster when you have children!!! I have to make zucchini casserole for Thanksgiving at my inlaws' house, as well as pumpkin pie. And maybe, just maybe, a bottle of wine. :) Thank goodness I am working from home next Wednesday. Otherwise I'd be up all night making this stuff the night before.
Even more than Thanksgiving, I can't believe that Christmas is right around the corner too. I've bought most of the gifts I wanted to buy - most importantly, my kids' gifts are purchased and need to be wrapped and hidden ASAP in the attic. This is the first year that N is excited for Christmas, and seems to understand what might be going on (since we're reading "Olivia Claus" and "Biscuit's Christmas Eve" lately)...I am trying to get her into it. Also, we're going to meet Santa this weekend and she's going to tell him what toys she would like to have. I think I might be a little excited too. (Understatement!)
I hear DH snoring in the other room. I think I will try to get some sleep now. I should-it's going to be a busy day at work today! Nighty night all!
