A blog about my adventures as a "super" mom (this may be up for debate...ha) while also working full time and everything that goes with it...sprinkled with a healthy dose of nothing in particular.

The Home Stretch
The first batch of DVD's I burned to send to my friend for her wedding didn't work. Glad I checked them before I dropped them in the mail. *SIGH* I feel like everything has been working against me with this whole project. Thankfully, the pictures are nice. The exception is the mother/son and father/daughter dance. I can't believe this happened, but there w

Randomness
I'm burning pictures to DVD and while I wait for that I thought I would share a few thoughts.
1. In Zumba class, a lot of the songs have the word "WEPA!" shouted, and I never knew what the heck it meant. Finally, I looked it up online and the definition (loosely translated) means "Oh Yeah". Ok. I thought it was probably something like that, but now I know.
2. Thursday I met my college friend K for lunch. It was great to see him! I'm glad we kept in touch after school, as he is a wonderful friend to me and always has been. One of the best things about him is that he is a great listener and very thoughtful. We don't see each other much, but when we do it is always fun. We went to the 99, which I haven't been to in forever. I got the Panko Crusted Haddock. It was ok. Overcooked, for sure, but I wasn't about to complain. By the time our food arrived, I was STARVING. Unfortunately, though, I was about a third into my meal when I noticed a big hair in my food as I was about to put it into my mouth. I was so grossed out I had to stop eating. I thought about just letting it go, but I decided to say something. After all, maybe they should be wearing hairnets or something like that...ugh. They didn't charge me for my food, which was nice.

The Nook
So I got a Nook for my birthday and I love it. However...I severely need to ration my book purchasing because I think that M will cancel my credit card if I get out of control. So far I have read Orange is the New Black, by Piper Kerman. It was a great memoir, with a lot of colorful dialogue. I highly recommend it. If anyone out there has an e-reader, I can lend it to you for free for 14 days. :)
I think my next book will be Shanghai Girls. If anyone has read it...what are your thoughts?

Is it Friday yet?
This week has been really tough. Not only do I think I have had less sleep this week than I should be getting, I think I might be coming down with an eye infection or something - eyes have been itchy and feeling funny this week. I have a wedding on Sunday on the north shore, so this would not be fun at all.
Fridays are nice because we get out of work a bit early and in a perfect world...it would be great for me to be able to get home and rest a little before the kids get home from daycare.
Actually, what the heck am I saying?
What usually ends up happening on Fridays is that I end up running around trying to get errands done after I leave work. Sometimes it's just easier and quicker to do alone, then frantically running home to get the house ready before it's time for daycare pickup.
But this Friday will be different. I do plan to get out of the office at the end of the day, and get home and burn the wedding pics (from the wedding I did for JL a few weeks ago) to DVD's to get them ready to mail - this is a task that is better done when there is nobody a) sitting on your lap or b) crawling around under the computer desk. If there's time, I'll get to the post office, but more than likely this will happen on Saturday or Monday depending on what else is going on.
I don't know how others feel, but I certainly feel like time flies by much faster now that I have kids. Every day is so busy!

Why the heck am I awake?
It's 3:24 am. Unfortunately, this has been an occurrence since probably about 2 weeks ago. I keep waking up at some ungodly hour, getting up to do something and then trying to go back to bed. Inevitably, the minute my head hits the pillow again, A wakes up. I swear he smells me walking by his room or something.
Actually, I know why I am awake. I'm completely, utterly stressed out. I need a vacation sooooo bad. It is coming, friends!!! And I plan to do nothing, except stay close to home and get organized with all the various projects I've been trying to get done for-EVER.
I can't even tell you how long it's been since I've had a week off to myself, with nothing to do/nowhere to go. Actually, I don't think I ever have had this situation occur since, maybe sophomore year of high school. I'm very excited at the prospect, and am trying to not fill up the week and a half with appointments and such like I might be tempted to do. I'm really trying to get those out of the way now, so that I am not doing a lot of running around.
So I'm up doing another review of Jen's reception pics. I wanted to get on the computer when I got home from swim, but Mark was using it. So by the time I ate dinner, got Nat to bed and did all the necessary stuff, it was getting late. Silly me made the mistake of sitting on the couch and watching Entourage and then falling asleep.
Ugh. I feel lazy, but I know I'm not.
Gotta run. Photoshop just uploaded all my pics so I'm going to wrap those up now. Have a GREAT day everyone!

Wow.
I'm currently, desperately, trying to wrap up final edits on wedding photos I took for a friend of ours a few weeks ago. The only thing is that I'm so picky I totally obsess over any flaw and can't make a decision as to whether certain photos are okay as is or if they need a little tweaking. Wish I could outsource that part of it to someone else - taking the pictures is great and fun, but *sigh* the editing part is not my favorite thing to do.
This weekend was insanely busy. Friday was a lot of running around. Went to work, then scooted out to get my hair cut and colored back to my natural brown. Previously, I had had it highlighted with caramel streaks, but now it has started to grow out. While I love my hairdresser, I just can't commit to spending $158 every 6-8 weeks for a cut & foil. Plus, it's very time consuming,
I managed to finish up at the haidressers and have enough time for a quick trip to the grocery store and then home to drop off the groceries & get dinner going before I had to get the kiddos at daycare. Once home, I served the kids dinner (which was tilapia, strawberries, and corn...note that I try to get in an entree, fruit and veggie every meal!) They devoured every bite! By the time I got everything cleaned up and hubby was home, it was time to run off to my manicure appointment that I really wanted to squeeze in - my nails were in atrocious shape. Following that, I was able to stop on the way home and get invitations for Little Man's upcoming birthday party.
Needless to say, by the time I got home I was wiped out. Got home, passed out on the couch waiting for hubby to finish up on the computer and that was my exciting night.
Saturday was a fun day. We took the kids to lunch at Olive Garden, and then explored Patriot Place. There's a really cool store there; Bass Pro Shops. It sounds like the kind of place I usually wouldn't shop - for example, it sells guns and fishing rods - two things I would never use. Ths kids really liked seeing the enormous fish tank, turtles, and various faux animals scattered throughout the store. That exhausted them for the day and then we all went home for a carb-induced nap. Later, our babysitter came and I went out with hubby for a nice relaxing dinner, sans kids, at the Melting Pot. It was delish...and I indulged in some great wines. (I tried a sampling flight because I wasn't sure which one I wanted to get and didn't want to commit to a whole bottle of something without trying it first).
Today I think that hubby was a little miffed with me because I was out almost all day. I went to take some photos of my former coworker's children, but it was hot and they weren't really interested in sitting still for me. I completely understand...it was way too hot. Got home at lunchtime, made everyone lunch, and we all ate and played afterward. By 2:30 it was time for me to leave to meet the girls at the movies for our pre-arranged girls day out. We saw "Grown-Ups" - I always love Adam Sandler movies, they just crack me up. Usually, they are so outrageously silly that you just have to laugh! Following that, we went to P.F. Changs for dinner and had a great meal. And last but certainly not least...my very generous and thoughtful friends gave me lots of fabulous gifts (including free veggies and herbs courtesy of MG!!).
So, that, my friends, is my weekend in a nutshell. I will say, that I am totally all done with eating out for a good long while. I believe that I ate just about every meal out this weekend, with the exception of Friday night dinner.
It is getting late and I need my rest - it's going to be a very busy week this week both at work and at home! Have a great week everyone!

It's been a while...
I've been completely swamped with family and work demands lately, which has left me time for little else, including finishing up reviewing pictures from a wedding I photographed 2 weeks ago and trying to get the house clean for a party we're having here tomorrow. *sigh*...wish these things would get done magically! :)
Meantime, I am looking for a little treat for myself. Anyone out there own a Nook? If so, I'd love some feedback...
